UCL Masters degree in the Department of Security and Crime Science 2020-21 Scholarship

UCL Masters degree in the Department of Security and Crime Science 2020-21 Scholarship

We have extended the deadline for anyone wishing to apply for our departmental scholarships to 30th June 2020
Please note that our scholarships are ONLY available to applicants wishing to undertake a Masters degree in the Department of Security and Crime Science. We cannot award funding to students wishing to study in other UCL departments or at other universities.
For MSc applicants, there are a number of scholarships/bursaries available, both through the Department of Security and Crime Science and elsewhere. Please read all of the information below very carefully before filling in any application forms.
Please make sure that you have applied online to one of our MSc programmes in addition to submitting your application for a scholarship/bursary. If you have not applied to one of our MSc programmes, your application will simply not be considered. For obvious reasons, we cannot consider awarding a scholarship/bursary to an applicant if we have not decided to make them an offer of a place to study.
IMPORTANT: if you defer your place, or if you are a modular-flexible student and decide not to take any modules in your first year of enrollment, then we cannot defer your bursary to the following academic year and you will need to apply again.

Postgraduate loans

If you are hoping to apply for a postgraduate loan through the Student Loans Company, please ensure that you check the eligibility of the course that you are applying for. You can find the information through the government’s website here. The modular/flexible route is not eligible for the postgraduate loan and the department has no plans to add a part-time option to our courses.

SCS Bursaries (open to all MSc applicants)

For 2020-2021 entry the Department of Security & Crime Science (SCS) will offer up to 14 bursaries of between £2,500 and £10,000 to outstanding applicants who have been offered places on one of our MSc programmes (these bursaries are not open to applicants for PG diplomas or certificates).
If you would like to be considered for an SCS bursary, please fill in an application form and return it via email or post to the address on the form. If you have any questions about your application, please email us.

The deadline for consideration for these bursaries is 30th June 2020 and all application forms must be submitted by midnight on this date.
You must also ensure that your online application for the programme you wish to study is completed by 30th June 2020. This includes making sure that your referees have submitted their references by this date, as UCL Admissions do not consider an application to be complete until this has happened. The Department of Security & Crime Science will not be able to make any exceptions.
All applications will be considered after the deadline and we aim to inform applicants of our decision by mid-July 2020. You will hear from us directly via email – this communication is entirely separate from any communications you receive from UCL Admissions and your offer letter for a place on the programme will not state whether or not you have been awarded a bursary or scholarship.
Please be aware that competition for these bursaries and scholarships is fierce and we recommend that all applicants investigate other sources of funding. The UCL website has a section on funding and scholarships, however we as a department are unable to help unsuccessful applicants to find alternative funding.
