Key details

This scheme is based in Salford, Media CityUK. Although, flexibility to travel to and work at a range of locations throughout the UK is required.

We're looking for someone to start around January 2021.

What will I do as part of the scheme?

Under our traineeship you will develop and embed industry specific Safeguarding knowledge to compliment and support the BBC Safeguarding services. Experiencing and absorbing all provisions intended for children, young people (inc Staff) and other vulnerable groups; you will quickly learn and understand all aspects of achieving best practice and ensuring safe, fun and engaging environments for vulnerable groups to engage with and be their creative best.

Who are you?

The ideal candidate for this role will have the following:

Essential:

  • A minimum GCSE or Standard Grades qualifications in maths and English at A-C or equivalent.
  • A relevant qualification or general level of understanding, on which we can build, of current UK safeguarding legislation including individual national arrangements for children, young people and adults at risk.
  • Knowledge and understanding of relevant codes of practice, guidance and operating procedures underpinning modern safeguarding provisions.
  • Understanding of working with vulnerable groups and the dependencies and expectations of these groups applied within the working environment.
  • A passion and interest to solve problems and willingness to contribute, challenge and creatively develop solutions, programmes and other interventions to continue providing the very best environments for vulnerable groups to engage in.
  • Experience of working safely, in accordance with policies in a working environment
  • A perspective of how to analyse and contexualise issues, identify key points to be addressed and support the development of effective, practical and simple plans to resolve problems or manage situations excellently.
  • A strong interest in the BBC’s public service values and purpose.
  • To work and behave in a manner that is in keeping with the BBC’s values.
  • Ability to work effectively, flexibly and willingly under supervision. To be a self-starter.
  • Understanding of own limitations and commitment to learn and develop new skills and knowledge
  • Excellent communication skills in spoken, written, and formal documentation with an ability to communicate with stakeholders of varying seniority or public facing communities.
  • Work effectively with a wide range of people at different levels in the organisation.
  • To work effectively in and with allocated teams, and to adhere to local regulations in third party organisations as appropriate during study or work based placements.
  • To support the BBC Early Careers team in being an ambassador for early careers development, representing the BBC at external events as well as supporting your peers.

Desirable:

  • Awareness of working together and reporting requirements in an open and transparent safeguarding culture
  • Experience of working in alignment to a defined safeguarding framework, which includes policies and procedures, in a relevant setting specifically for vulnerable groups.
  • Awareness of Global safeguarding risks and provisions and how they impact BBC staff or contributors.
