Covid-19 Gameathon 2021

In an attempt to fight the virus, St. Francis College for Women and HEART Hyderabad  are hosting one of the largest pan-India hackathons to encourage and develop innovative games that address issues faced by people during the pandemic. The month-long virtual event is being organized by St. Francis College for Women and HEART Hyderabad through a grant from the U.S. Consulate General Hyderabad. Our goal is to produce multiple games through the hackathon after adjudication by an expert jury panel. Our winners will be involved in a process of fully-fleshing out and publishing their expertly-crafted games, making them an effective and accessible tool to the public in raising awareness and helping people to stay safe.

Covid-19 Gameathon, one of the largest pan-India hackathons aimed at developing innovative games for social good, will commence on February 12.

The focus of Gameathon is to raise awareness about the challenges caused by the pandemic and at the same time offer solutions that help people stay safe. The event will invite more than 5,000 game developers from universities and gaming industries, with over 100 game prototypes and over 10,000 game downloads post-incubation.

The month-long virtual event includes virtual webinars and weekly interactions with expert mentors. At the end of the event, participants will submit their games to a panel of industry experts who will determine the top entries and winners stand a chance to win multiple prizes up to Rs 1 lakh, with special recognition for women in STEM. The winning submissions will be selected for incubation and official publication.

The Covid-19 Gameathon will be hosted by St. Francis College for Women, Hyderabad, and HEART Hyderabad, a US Consulate alumni organization with the support of the US Consulate General Hyderabad’s ‘Covid-19 Small Grants Program’.
