Minimum age: 22 years old. Applicants must be nationals of or legal residents in the country of assignment.
Under the overall supervision of the Head of Office, and the direct guidance of the Human Rights Officer responsible for coordinating OHCHR’s work in the context of the election, the UN Volunteer will undertake the following tasks:
- Assist in the gathering, compilation, organisation and analysis of data on human rights issues in the context of the elections in the oPt;
- Assist in the compilation and analysis of information and reporting on human rights in the context of the election, including for the daily situation reports, weekly reports and other internal reporting;
- Assist in the preparation, organisation and delivery of technical assistance and awareness raising activities carried out by the office in the context of the electoral process;
- Assist in the preparation, design and distribution of awareness raising material as relates to human rights during the election process;
- Assist the office to ensure the integration of gender perspectives and attention to specific women rights issues within all OHCHR activities;
- Assist in drafting and preparing public information material including social media and printed material, PowerPoint presentations and written products.
Master degree preferably in law, human rights, political or social sciences or other relevant field.
- Minimum 3 years of work/volunteering experience in human rights or a related area is required.
- Knowledge of human rights and experience in information gathering, monitoring or researching human rights issues is desirable.
- Experience and skills in developing awareness raising material is desirable.
- Fully proficient computer skills including use of relevant software and other applications, e.g. word processing, spreadsheets, internal databases, internet mining, etc.
