About this conference 

The World’s leading event for young and aspiring diplomats: 7 countries in 7 days

We are delighted to announce our most exciting YDF to date. We will be hosting this year’s Young Diplomats Forum over 7, days, in 7 countries. Participants will have the unprecedented opportunity to learn and engage about diplomacy of 7 of the world’s leading capitals.  

The Covid pandemic has been a global disruption and has halted many projects and events. We decided that this was a chance for us to deliver an even greater forum that we have before. You will be joining over 100 young and aspiring diplomats from over 75 countries  covering every region in the world to tackle hot topics of international affairs of 7 countries.

The Young Diplomats Forum (YDF) is an intensive week long programme of practical sessions, workshops, policy exercises and institutional visits delivered by world leading experts.

Set up to recognise, enhance and develop the next generation of diplomats. This community of exceptionally bright and accomplished future leaders will gain further insight, tools and opportunities to engage with key stakeholders at a crucial time in their careers and broaden their connections to influence global leaders.

Our past edition took places in London, Ankara, Mexico City, Zagreb, Riga, Kuala Lumpur and Brussels. The young Diplomats Forum has over 1200 alumni from over 175 countries. 

Schedule 

  • Sessions with the FCDO, UK State Dept, US Congress, European External Action Service, European Parliament and sessions with Officials from the 7 Capitals
  • Sessions with leading Soft Power and Public Diplomacy Organisations, including British Council, Global Ties US and Schwartzman Foundation
  • Expert Briefings abut each country by world leading experts to set the scene for delegates prior to meeting with officials
  • Policy Development workshops on the main global diplomatic challenges
  • Break out sessions for delegates to discuss each country’s specific diplomatic issues with peers
  • Session with Legislators on manifestations and role of parliamentarian diplomacy in each country
  •  A session with international organisations based in the host country 
  • Group Policy developments Presentation on : Climate Change, Tech and Diplomacy, UN Reforms
