Beijing Scholarship

Beijing Government Scholarship (BGS) was established by Beijing Municipal Government, covers the tuition fees of international students, fully or partially, and need to be applied every year. The International students’ office, PKU is authorized by Beijing Municipal Government to be responsible for the acceptance, review, and approval of the scholarship applications.

Eligibility:
(1)Applicants must be non-Chinese citizens;
(2)Already admitted as an undergraduate or graduate student at PKU and will pursue a Bachelor’s or academic Master’s/PhD degree;
(3) Receiving no other tuition scholarship funds;

When to Apply: September- October
Categories and Value of Scholarship:
Full: tuition fee of one-academic year
Partial scholarship: Half/A quarter of tuition fee of one-academic year

Peking University Scholarship

  PKU Scholarship for International Students is offered by Peking University to outstanding international students who pursue degrees at PKU.

1.Criteria and Eligibility:
(1)Applicants must be non-Chinese citizens of sound health;
(2)Already admitted as an undergraduate or graduate student at PKU and will pursue a Bachelor’s or academic Master’s/PhD degree;
(3)Receiving no other scholarship funds;
(4)Must not be either seeking a professional degree or enrolled in a Joint Degree program or an English-taught program (students who will be enrolled in these programs are not eligible to apply for this scholarship).


2.Duration of Scholarship:
(1)Undergraduate students: 4-5 years;
(2)Master students: 2-3 years;
(3)PhD candidates: 4 years;
(4)Master-to-PhD candidates: 5 years
Note: The duration of scholarship is fixed and could not be extended.


3. Value of Scholarship:
(1) Full scholarship covers tuition, living stipend (including accommodation subsidy) and Comprehensive Medical Insurance for International Students;
(2) Partial scholarship covers tuition.


4. When to Apply:
  In late May. Please refer to the latest notice on the website for the specific application date.


5. Others
  Scholarship students must take the annual evaluation.

Cunfucius Institute Scholarship
Confucius Institute Scholarship program is established by the Confucius Institute Headquarters/Hanban (hereinafter referred to as Hanban) to provide scholarships to international students and scholars. Under this program, Master Degree Students and General Visiting Students are accepted by Peking University.  

Eligibility:
The scholarship is oriented at outstanding students of Confucius Institutes (Classrooms), overseas local Chinese language teachers, winners of the “Chinese Bridge” Chinese Proficiency Competitions for Foreign College Students and for Foreign High School Students, excellent foreign college students majored in Chinese, and those who intend to become Chinese teachers.
1、Applicants shall be non-Chinese citizens in good health, aged between 16 and 35.
2、Scholarship for One-Academic Year Students: Applicants should achieve a score of at least 180 on the HSK (level 3) and at least 60 on the HSKK (primary level).
      Scholarship for One-Semester Students: Applicants should achieve a score of at least 120 on the HSK (level 2) and at least 40 on the HSKK (primary level).
 
Categories of Scholarships
1.Scholarship for 1 semester/1-academic-year Chinese language study
2.Scholarship for a 2-year full time master’s program of Teaching Chinese to Speakers of Other Languages (MTCSOL)
Scholarship recipients must complete their study within due time; Scholarships invariably cannot be extended.


Scholarship Coverage & Criteria
Scholarship winners are exempt from registration fees, tuition, fees for basic learning materials, accommodation fees on campus, and are provided with a one-off resettlement subsidy, monthly allowance, outpatient medical service and comprehensive insurance.
*The one-off resettlement subsidy will not be provided to those who have studied in China for more than half a year before being enrolled.
