Description of scholarship
The University of Amsterdam offers the Amsterdam Excellence Scholarships (AES) to excellent students from outside the EU/EEA who opt for an international Master’s programme at the UvA. The AES is a full scholarship (€25,000) that covers tuition fee and living expenses. Students will be selected on the basis of academic excellence, ambition and relevance for a student’s future career.Requirements
Excellent non-EU/EEA students who have been (provisionally) admitted to an English-taught Master’s programme at the University of Amsterdam. Students are selected on the basis of their academic performance and promise in the proposed field.

Value and purpose of grant:
Full scholarship € 25,000 (covering tuition fee and living expenses)
Grant award period:
Students receive the scholarship for one year and are expected to maintain good academic standing during the year. Students who receive the AES for a two-year Master’s programme will be evaluated after one year of study. The scholarship will only be continued for the second year if the AES student has completed all courses of the first year on time with a grade point average of 8.0.

The university will help AES students to find accommodation, preferably together with other AES recipients.
It is expected that AES recipients will participate in activities with AES sponsors. They will be permitted to join special extracurricular activities and become part of a selective community, including the AES alumni network.
