Chevening Scholarship 2026 : Eligibility, Benefits, Application & Tips

Chevening Scholarship 2026: Fully Funded UK Government Scholarship to Study in the UK

The Chevening Scholarship is a fully funded scholarship programme offered by the UK Government to talented and ambitious individuals from eligible countries and territories around the world. The scholarship provides an opportunity to pursue a one-year master’s degree at a university in the United Kingdom.

Chevening is one of the most prestigious scholarships for international students who want to study in the UK. It is particularly attractive to students and young professionals who have strong leadership potential but may face financial barriers to pursuing higher education abroad.

The scholarship covers a wide range of expenses, including university tuition fees, monthly living expenses, travel costs, visa expenses, and arrival allowances.

What Does the Chevening Scholarship Cover?

The Chevening Scholarship provides comprehensive financial support for successful scholars. Here are some of the main expenses covered by the scholarship:

1. Full Tuition Fees

Chevening covers the full cost of tuition fees for an eligible one-year master’s degree programme at a UK university.

The amount of tuition fees may vary depending on the university and programme selected by the applicant.

2. Monthly Living Allowance

Chevening scholars receive a monthly stipend to help cover living expenses while studying in the UK.

This allowance is intended to support costs such as accommodation, food, transportation, and other day-to-day expenses. The amount may vary depending on whether the scholar is studying in London or outside London.

3. Travel Costs

The scholarship also provides financial support for travel between the scholar’s home country and the United Kingdom.

This generally includes the cost of travelling to the UK at the beginning of the scholarship and returning to the scholar’s home country after completing their studies.

4. Visa and Arrival Costs

Chevening also provides support for certain expenses associated with travelling to and arriving in the UK, including visa-related costs and an arrival allowance.

This comprehensive financial support allows scholars to focus on their studies, professional development, and networking without having to worry about the majority of their education and living expenses.

Chevening Scholarship Eligibility Requirements

To apply for the Chevening Scholarship, applicants must meet several eligibility requirements.

According to the official requirements, applicants must:

  • Be a citizen of a Chevening-eligible country or territory.
  • If applying for an award from an ODA-eligible country, be resident in an ODA-eligible country. This does not have to be the applicant’s country of citizenship, but applicants must demonstrate a clear intention to contribute to their country of award.
