Duties

The Computer Management Assistant (CMA) is a key technical service provider for Mission Indonesia, that supports the Department of State's Automated Information Systems, e.g., Sensitive But Unclassified OpenNet Local Area Network, Unclassified Dedicated Internet Local Area Network, as well as the Classified Network processing up to Secret classified material for the Classified Access Area (CAA). The incumbent is responsible for the day-to-day operation and maintenance of all server/computer hardware, software and network equipment. These responsibilities include but are not limited to managing daily routine tasks associated with ongoing systems operations, e.g., file backups, server health monitoring; creating user accounts, groups and scripts; configuring domain user accounts and profiles; troubleshooting server/workstation errors network connection failures; performing routine maintenance, patch management, hardware, software and application upgrades; tracks inventory movement to ensure our ILMS property records are accurate and reliable. Provide escort in CAA as needed for all technical staff and contractors. The incumbent will also provide support got the Classified Pouch logistics including escorting classified material. Makes decisions regarding formatting, storage, and distribution of official correspondence then processes said correspondence using the State Messaging and Archive Retrieval Toolset (SMART) communication system.
He/she is also responsible for planning and implementing hardware, software, network upgrades and configurations so that they do not impact the users and are in compliance with Department of State Information Resources Management standards and Diplomatic Security requirements.

Qualifications and Evaluations

Requirements:

EXPERIENCE:  At least two years performing progressively more responsible functions where emphasis is placed on analytical abilities focusing on Local Area Networking, computer operations and/or management, and maintaining Microsoft Windows based Server/Workstation network environment plus 2 years of customer service experience are required.


(Please note that one credited year of working experience is comparable to 40 hours/week x 52 weeks or 2080 hours)

Education Requirements:

Minimum 2 years of full-time university or college studies is required. 


(please note that 1 year of undergraduate education is comparable to 30 semester hours or 45 quarter hours)

Evaluations:

LANGUAGE:  Fluent speaking/reading/writing English is required.  This may be tested.


SKILLS AND ABILITIES:


• The incumbent should be able to clearly discuss and write the symptoms being experienced by the customers in order to resolve the issue to their satisfaction as well as read and understand supporting technical documentation.
• Must have specialized skill in problem recognition, inductive reasoning, deductive reasoning, rule application, troubleshooting and problem solving, learning and keeping abreast of a rapidly changing field, translating business needs into technical solutions, customer service, presenting technical concepts simply, self-management, and stress tolerance.
• Must be able to display excellent interpersonal skills to facilitate interoffice communications and teamwork as well as being able to deal with Americans and Locally Employed Staff in stressful situations.
• Ability to work independently, to organize, prioritize, and schedule work.
• Incumbent must be able to obtain and maintain TOP SECRET clearance.

The pay plan is assigned at the time of the conditional offer letter by the HR Office.
